Meet Your Instructors

Dr. Daniel G. Amen, MD

Daniel G. Amen, MD, is a double-board certified child and adult psychiatrist, brain imaging specialist, and the medical director of Amen Clinics. As a 12x New York Times bestselling author, including Your Brain Is Always Listening, and a world-renowned neuroscientist, Dr. Amen has pioneered the use of brain imaging in clinical psychiatric practice.

Dr. Amen’s research team has published more than 70 scientific articles including the world’s largest brain imaging and rehabilitation study on professional football players. His research has not only demonstrated high levels of brain damage in players, but also the possibility of significant recovery. His team also published the world’s largest functional brain imaging study on how the brain ages with over 62,000 SPECT scans.

Dr. Jesse Payne, Ed.D, MA

Dr. Payne has been involved in education since 2000, beginning with non-directive play therapy/group instruction and general teaching for elementary-aged students. He has taught in kindergarten, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and in high school. He also spent five years as the Director of Education for Amen Clinics, Inc., and an additional three years as their Director of Human Resources.

Dr. Payne is the author of several books and programs, including: Brain Thrive by 25 (2018), Change Your Brain, Change Your Life Before 25 (2014), Understanding Differences in Perceptions of Effective Urban Elementary School Principals Among Various Educational Stakeholders (2012), Making a Good Brain Great: High School Course (2009), and What I Learned from a Penguin: A Story on How to Help People Change (2006).
